Helen Lawrence

Lead teacher and mentor

Helen began teaching with Aqua Babies in 2006. Within the team she has gone from strength to strength and now supports and trains newly qualified teachers as well as mentoring members of the team.

Initially training as a nursery nurse, her career took her from working with one family to now working with many at Aqua Babies.

“I have worked with Aqua Babies for over 11 years. I joined Aqua Babies when my previous job working with a family whose children had special needs came to a natural end as the children had grown up to be more independent.”

“I enjoy every aspect of my job, from introducing a new class to the water and their first submersion to the excitement of the toddlers completing their 5m award.”

“My favourite song is 5 Little Men in A Flying Saucer. The activity I love is when we do the first swim with release and the babies do the first swim on their own.”

“Outside of teaching I enjoy learning and playing the saxophone and visiting the theatre with family and friends.”
