“I had taken my daughter to classes and was amazed at the skills and confidence she acquired,” explained Wendy. “I was offered the chance to train in the specialised skills and jumped at the opportunity.”

That was back in 1998 and by 1999 Aqua Babies in Manchester was born.

Wendy has two daughters aged 17 and 10. Her eldest Aaliyah went on from being a super swimmer to a regional gymnast and Yasmin not only swims like a fish but is also a keen horse rider.

Wendy’s background as an early year’s teacher was a great springboard into teaching swimming with a specialist focus on babies, toddlers and the pre-school age group. She understands the importance of playing to learn!

Wendy furthered her training by becoming an STA tutor/examiner specifically for baby and pre-school.

She also spent time in Florida training with the acclaimed Lifestyle Swim School, taking on board new skills and techniques which were then added to the teachers’ skill sets.

As one of the most important factors in baby swimming is the quality and temperature of the pool water, Wendy and fellow director, Carol, are also qualified in Swimming Pool Plant and Management. This not only means that  Aqua Babies’ own pool is managed to a high standard but also enables Aqua Babies to support all the pools we use.

Wendy said: “I’m really proud of Aqua Babies as a company and as a team, I couldn’t ask for more!”
